There are many metaphysical claims for this gemstone. Some of these are that it brings peace, clarity and calm. Many believe Amethyst to be an ally for the release of addiction and OCD behavior. The belief that I find amusing is that the name “amethyst” is derived from the Greek amethystos, which means a remedy against drunkenness. Amethyst is always beautiful to me, in any and all of the many shapes, colors and sizes I’ve seen so far.
